For some transactions, HaltH sends your client a 4-digit code by SMS. The client reads the code to you and you enter it in the checkout. This confirms the client agrees to the claim or charge, which protects both your practice and the client.
Before you start
The client needs a mobile number on their profile. If a code is needed and there's no mobile number, the checkout shows Phone number required and you can't continue until you add one.
When a code is needed
Private health claims. Every private health fund claim needs a code. The button reads Confirm funding with client.
The first payment from a client. The first time a client pays your business through HaltH, they confirm it with a code.
The amount is more than the booking. If you charge the client's saved card more than the price of the original booking (for example, you added an item), the gap has changed, so the client confirms the new amount.
Payments over $500. Charging more than $500 to a client's saved card needs a code. The button reads Confirm transaction with client.
The code screen tells you why the code was needed, for example Required for private health fund claims.
Plans follow the same rules. If a plan payment needs confirmation, you'll see Confirmation code sent to client after you submit it.
When a code isn't needed
Medicare and DVA claims.
A returning client paying the booked amount (or less) with no private health claim.
Send to Tap. The client confirms on your phone in the HaltH Tap app instead.
1. Send the code
Select Confirm funding with client or Confirm transaction with client. HaltH sends the code straight away and shows the mobile number it was sent to.
2. Enter the code
Ask the client to read you the 4-digit code and type it in. The transaction completes as soon as all 4 digits are entered.
Troubleshooting
The code didn't arrive. Check the mobile number shown on screen is correct. Wait a few seconds, then select Resend code (it's available again after a 10-second countdown).
The mobile number is wrong. Cancel, update the client's mobile number, then start again.
The client asks why they got a code. Let them know it's a security step to confirm their payment or claim.
